Governor's Task Force meeting on Transportation to be held in San Francisco <br />August 10th which he planned to attend. <br />Councilman Petersen expressed his interest in also attending meeting with the <br />Mayor. <br />Note of appreciation from the Ralph Dodge Family for Council's <br />expression of sympathy. <br />Postcard requesting no tax rate increase from Rachel and Harold <br />Treacy, 1102 Hopkins St., Redwood City. <br />Mayor Herkner stated he would answer this card and be happy to relate it now <br />appeared tax rate in Redwood City would be reduced instead of raised. <br />(Memo 8/8/67) <br />Councilman Granger commented on observations made on trip to attend National Con- <br />gress of Cities in Boston, which he felt pointed out a need for increased Police <br />Personnel to fully protect our City from situations now prevalent in the East, <br />which could spread to the West Coast. <br />Councilman Bury asked that he be given an opportunity to report to Council on <br />his attendance at the National Congress of Cities. (Memo 8/8/67) <br />Councilman Granger moved to adjourn commemorating the memory of former City official <br />by adoption of RESOLUTION NO. 5449 COMMEMORATING THE MEMORY OF RALPH S. DODGE, <br />seconded by Councilman Bury and carried on roll call vote, Councilmen Henderson, <br />Keckley, & Rosselli being noted absent. M. <br />Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Keckley. <br />Invocation led by Monsignor Joseph D. Munier, Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Robert H. Bury, Floyd D. <br />Granger, Paul C. Keckley, John S. Rosselli, Mayor Sidney D. Herkner and City Clerk <br />Helen C. Moore. Councilmen Mary W. Henderson and Herbert G. Petersen (entered the <br />meeting at 7:35 p.m.) were noted absent. Also noted present were City Manager <br />Howard C. Ullrich, City Attorney Richard E. Gardella, Assistant City Manager Henry <br />V. Burget, Police Chief William Faulstich, Fire Chief J. L. Lodi, Planning Director <br />Ken Schroeter, Deputy Director of Public Works Mel Moen, Auditor -Accountant Jpck <br />Ference, Chief Building Official Charles Gyselbrecht, and Deputy City Clerk Marian <br />McCrindle. ^ <br />Mayor Herkner announced opening of the continued public hearing would be postponed until <br />the arrival of Councilman Petersen, since only four Councilmen, of whom Councilman <br />Petersen was one, were eligible to participate in this hearing. City Attorney <br />suggested Mayor, by order of the Chair, continue this public hearing until the <br />arrival of the other Council member eligible to participate. He also suggested it <br />might be well to postpone approving Minutes of previous meeting until same four <br />members were present. <br />Councilman Petersen entered the meeting at 7:35 P.
