18
Councilman Rosselli questioned whether he could participate in the continued public
hearing concerning house moving permit inasmuch as he had read all reports and
Minutes of the previous public hearing. City Attorney advised the required trans-
cript which would have allowed members absent from the previous public hearing to
participate, after their review and study of the evidence and transcript, had not
been taken, therefore, members absent on August 7th were not eligible to partici-
pate in this continued public hearing.
Continued Public Hearing, application of Norma Kogelschatz, 1707 Edgewood Road, for
permit to move a one-story, wood frame single family dwelling from Lot 6, Block 1
Redwood Villa Park, 18 Center Street, Redwood City, to 649 Douglas Avenue (Lots
1 and 2. Block 1, Dumbarton Acres) declared open. This public hearing continued
from August 7th at the request of the Mayor for additional time in which to make
another inspection of the premises and obtain further information. Mr. Don Aste,
representing applicant at previous public hearing, had indicated his willingness
to accept conditions set out by Staff, if permit approved, and also his assurance
to Council that applicant would be willing to submit for approval appropriate
landscaping, to insure its compatibility with the adjacent area.
He reiterated previous statements that property would be
landscaped, fenced, new two -car covered area for parking
constructed, house to be painted and brick installed
across the front, which he felt would insure property being
an asset to the community and neighborhood, if permit is
granted.
In response to questioning as to why dwelling being moved
from original site, Mr. Aste advised Council a new build-
ing was to be constructed where dwelling is located at
the Center and E1 Camino, and area needed for a parking
lot. Structure considered too good to bulldoze since it
is up to building code.
Chief Building Official advised his written report submitted previously had con-
tained the conditions he recommended should house moving permit be granted.
(For full text See - City Clerk's File - House Moving Permits)
Councilman Petersen moved to close the public hearing, seconded by Councilman
Bury and carried. Mayor Herkner reported he had reinspected the building and
indicated his approval of permit as he believed dwelling capable of being moved.
Councilman Petersen moved to grant the requested house moving permit, subject to
four specific conditions recommended by Staff, and making part of record that
landscaping will take place on the premises as previously set forth, seconded by
Councilman Bury and carried on roll call vote, Councilman Granger voting no,
Councilmen Rosselli and Keckley abstaining because of absence from previous public
hearing, Councilman Henderson being noted absent.
