Councilman Rosselli moved to accept recommendation of Staff for cancella- <br />tion of assessment charges on the above property, seconded by Councilman <br />Keckley and carried. <br />Robert & Bernice Beals, 1050 Connecticut Dr. <br />Parcel 057-242-070 $22.40 <br />Mr. Beals appeared to personally protest assessment charges and describing <br />property involved as having been bulldozed prior to weed abatement program <br />because of his intention to construct a dwelling, which plans had subse- <br />quently not materialized, but declaring weeds not in evidence on his <br />property because of these facts. <br />Council questioned Staff as to timing of abatement program on this property <br />and of records made. After further discussion, Councilman Granger moved <br />to deny the protest and confirm the assessment charges, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Keckley and lost on roll call vote, Councilmen Granger and Keckley <br />voting yes, Councilmen Bury, Petersen, Rosselli and Mayor Herkner voting no. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to grant the protest and can cel the assessment <br />charges, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried on roll call vote, <br />Councilmen Bury, Granger, Petersen, Rosselli, and Mayor Herkner voting <br />yes, Councilman Keckley voting no. <br />ASSESSMENT CANCELLED <br />John & Norma Pauan, 1529 Union Ave. <br />Parcel 057-242-130 $15.00 <br />(charge 1 spraying only) ASSESSMENT MODIFIED <br />Mr. Pauan appeared in protest and described property which he claimed con- <br />tained no weeds as of a. gravel and rocky nature. <br />Anthony Gus, 1716 Kentucky Avenue <br />Parcel 057-242-140 $22.40 <br />(charge 1 spraying only) ASSESSMENT MODIFIED <br />Mr. Gud appeared to state Mr. Pauan was his father-in-law and that property <br />above was adjacent to his property and situation the same, as no soil present <br />for weeds to grow on and failed to see why abatement was needed. <br />After questioning of protestants and Staff, Councilman Bury moved to reduce <br />the charges by 2/3 on both of these parcels, property owners to pay assess- <br />ment charges for one spraying only, seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried <br />on roll call vote, Councilmen Bury, Granger, Keckley, Petersen and Mayor Herkner <br />voting yes, Councilman Rosselli voting no. <br />Mr. & Mrs. Irving T. McGuire, 2240-2246 E1 Camino <br />Parcel unknown $22.40 <br />Mr. & Mrs. McGuire appeared to ask questions regarding assessment charges for <br />weed abatement because of fact their 'yard had been fenced for some six years. <br />Staff questioned as to record of operations on this property and advised two <br />spraying operations with the third one to be made by arrangement with the <br />owners to obtain entry to the property.
