447 <br />Staff report stated this action being requested because extensions proposed of <br />Main Street from Veterans Boulevard, through Motor City and across Bayshore <br />Freeway, to connect with the future extension of Whipple Avenue in Redwood Shores, <br />and extension of Brewster Avenue from Veterans Boulevard to the new extension of <br />Main Street in Motor City, were not presently in the approved Select System of <br />Streets. Motion carried on roll call vote. <br />Councilman Keckley moved to adopt ORDINANCE N0. 1292 APPROPRIATING $2,393 FROM THE <br />UNAPPROPRIATED BALANCE OF THE GENERAL FUND TO THE REDWOOD CITY POLICE YOUTH CLUB <br />TO BE USED FOR YOUTH ACTIVITIES OF A GENERAL BENEFIT TO THE CHILDREN OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY, seconded by Councilman Granger. Mayor Herkner announced this <br />fund had been made available to the Youth Club as a result of the 49ers scrimmage <br />game, proceeds from which were donated for this purpose. Motion carried on roll <br />call vote. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5269 CANCELLING CERTAIN WEED <br />ABATEMENT CHARGES FOR 1966 WEED ABATEMENT PROGRAM, seconded by Councilman Keckley. <br />Staff reported 30 parcels were involved with charges totaling $1,328.68, which <br />was recommended for cancellation. Motion carried on roll call vote. <br />Councilman Henderson moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5270 AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF <br />REVOCABLE PERMIT FROM SAN FRANCISCO WATER DEPARTMENT IN CONNECTION WITH WATER <br />MAIN IMPROVEMENTS FOR GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS DISTRICT N0, 2-65, PROJECT W-1, <br />seconded by Councilman Bury. Staff reported this project required the installa- <br />tion and maintenance of water pressure regulating station and appurtenant lines <br />within the Hetch Hetchy right-of-way in the vicinity of Hudson Street, between <br />Roosevelt and Oak. Avenue. Motion carried on roll call vote, <br />DAMAGE CLAIMS: (1) Lawrence J. Fama, 2310 Euclid Ave,, for property damages alleged <br />to have been caused by defective City Street; (2) Mrs. Phyllis D. Wolf, 178 <br />Myrtle St., for property damages alleged to have been caused by defective City <br />Street; (3) Mrs. Walter F. Murphy, 81 Melrose Place, for personal injuries alleged <br />to have been caused by fall on City sidewalk not properly maintained, denied and <br />referred to insurance carrier on motion of Councilman Petersen, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Granger and carried. McCarl and grateful <br />appreciation of Council's expressions of condolence in <br />her recent bereavement. <br />Acknowledgment from Mrs, Grayce Fletcher in appreciation <br />of Council's expression of condolence in the memory of <br />her father, Amante Gherini. <br />Communication from Calif. Roadside Council concerning effect <br />on local jurisdictions of a certain provision contained <br />in the Federal Highway Beautification ACt of 1965, and urging <br />that City Councils and County Board of Supervisors adopt a <br />similar resolution to that enclosed declaring opposition to <br />such legislation and urging the Congress to effect its deletion, <br />(Copy previously submitted to Council) <br />Councilman Bury suggested this communication be referred to the Legislative <br />Committee stating the matter is of concern in many places and is meeting with <br />some resistance.
