City Manager pointed out <br />the considerable extra expense of some $50,000 if concrete work already in place <br />had to be replaced, among the other considerations. Councilman Granger questioned <br />proposal for undergrounding utilities. City Manager advised it was not possible <br />to discuss details on planning at this time as several plans to be studied and <br />he would request that Council only direct Staff to proceed on this investigation <br />at this point. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved that motion be amended to request reconsideration of <br />sidewalk widths from present proposal of 9' to 5' sidewalks, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Petersen. Councilman Bury felt motion as made too restrictive and moved <br />to amend motion to instruct Staff to negotiate for redesign of sidewalks to <br />something less than 91, thereby providing additional parking space, seconded by <br />Councilman Rosselli. Councilman Henderson discussed State participation in the <br />cost of sidewalks. Motion carried on roll call vote, Mayor Herkner voting no. <br />(MINUTE ORDER #67-46) <br />Original motion to accept recommendations including the sidewalk recommendation <br />as amended, carried on roll call vote. (MINUTE ORDER #67-46) <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to instruct Staff to study possibility of reducing <br />median barrier size along entire route of the widening improvement proposed for <br />Woodside in order to salvage more space to insure parking, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Bury. Councilman Keckley indicated his opposing a restudy on this point <br />in view of the presentation made at previous hearing in which details of barrier <br />width explained to eliminate traffic hazards and offer best traffic movements. <br />Motion lost on roll call vote, Councilmen Bury, Petersen, & Rosselli voting yes, <br />Councilmen Granger, Henderson, Keckley and Mayor Herkner voting no. <br />Councilman Granger moved to change meeting place for Council meeting of March 13, <br />1967, from Hall of Justice to the Veterans Memorial Building, seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Bury. Councilman Bury urged this meeting be given as much publicity as <br />possible, suggesting announcements to all service groups, and paid advertisement <br />in the newspaper, if necessary. <br />After discussion of the best way in which to handle the legislative items on <br />March 13, and give adequate time for participation in the Redwood Shores presen- <br />tation, the motion was re -stated to cancel the Regular Meeting of March 13th, and <br />substitute therefor an adjourned regular legislative meeting to start at 7:30 <br />p.m., Veterans Memorial Building. Motion carried.
