REPORT OF BID OPENING; Exterior waterways y#2, GID 1-64. The following bids were <br />received: <br />A & B Totals <br />Hy Hydraulic Dredging Co. $277,490.00 <br />Bragato Paving Co. 308,490.00 <br />Utah Construction Co. 366,650.00 <br />R. A. Wattson Co. 492,200.00 <br />Engineer's Estimate A & B - $378,762.50 <br />Staff and District Engineers, DMJM, recommended bid be awarded to the low <br />bidder, Hydraulic Dredging Company, in the amount of $277,490.00. City <br />Manager's report submitted to Council stated contract would provide for <br />dredging of Belmont Waterway from the terminus of the Dredge "A" work <br />Bayward, a distance of approximately 9700 feet; work when completed resulting <br />in a channel 80 feet wide at the bottom, with a depth of 8 feet below Mean <br />Lower Low (a minimum of approximately 8 feet of water under any tidal conditions), <br />etc. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5643 AWARDING CONTRACT <br />FOR RECLAMATION AND DRAINAGE PROJECT, DREDGE EXTERIOR WATERWAYS -2, FOR <br />REDWOOD CITY GENERAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT NO. 1-64; AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br />CONTRACT FOR SAID WORK; AND, DIRECTING RETURN OF SECURITY DEPOSIT, seconded by <br />Councilman Keckley. <br />On question, Councilman Henderson questioned whether area for this proposed work <br />was outside the District limits and was advised by Acting City Attorney portion <br />of area both within and outside of the District. City Manager pointed out how <br />extremely favorable the bid received had been in comparison to Engineer's esti- <br />mate of cost of work to be done. Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilman <br />Henderson voting no. <br />Legislative Committee Report. Councilman Rosselli, Chairman of Committee, reviewed <br />briefly Committee's report as submitted to Council for study on following leg- <br />islation which had been submitted to Committee for report and recommendation <br />(for full text of report see City Clerk's file, Legislative) <br />1. Workmens' Compensation - Heart Trouble <br />SB 184 - Committee recommendation to oppose because <br />of consensus of Committee that such legislation would <br />be better covered as a part of an insurance package, <br />or disability provisions being made rather than piece- <br />meal legislation. <br />2. Brown Act - Advisory Bodies <br />AB 202 - Committee recommendation that no position be <br />taken on this bill at the present time as Committe <br />concluded thorough study should be given to ramifica- <br />tions. <br />3. Preemption - AB 114 - Committee recommendation to oppose. <br />4. Eminent Domain - Recoverable Costs <br />5. Statute of Limitations <br />AH 73 - Committee recommendation tooppose <br />6. Buy California Act <br />AB 173 - Committee recommendation that this bill be <br />investigated further in order to determine its worka- <br />bility and overall effect. <br />7.
