383 <br />Mr. James Reiter, Project Manager of DMJM, by an illustrated slide of the <br />Redwood Shores area, reviewed work which had been completed since inception of <br />the District and which was proposed for this year; - completion of first housing <br />unit to contain 200 residential units and necessary local improvements, besides <br />an additional 400 units proposed for future construction. He advised all of <br />_ which improvements in 1968 would be funded from the Series "C" Bonds of some <br />five million dollars, to which Leslie Properties, Inc., as owner -developer had <br />agreed to add some three and one-half million dollars, or a total of some eight <br />million dollars worth of construction work being funded for the coming year. <br />He reviewed in detail reclamation and facilities work accomplished in past <br />years totalling over four million, with Leslie Properties, Inc., as owner - <br />developer funding some two million dollars of costs, and the five projects in <br />progress or pending at this time totalling over a million dollars consisting of <br />Belmont drain culvert, interior waterways control, dredging exterior waterway, <br />Dredge B, levee improvements, and Belmont Drain channel improvements. <br />He reviewed site preparation and utility work for housing unit #1, part of <br />which had been funded by Series B for preliminary work, funds from sale of <br />Series C Bonds to provide monies for water lines and street pavement for this <br />first housing unit, extension of parkway system, landscaping, improving neigh- <br />borhood and water front parks, totalling about 10 acres, and provide some <br />district water storage facilities for entire Peninsula portion of project. <br />Charles Wynn, Manager of Leslie Properties, Inc., advised 1968 would see be- <br />ginning of residential construction and reported on approach having already <br />been made by outstanding California builders with selection soon to be made of <br />first of two builders who are to build model homes beginning this spring, price <br />range of units to be from $27,000. He also advised of construction to begin <br />on townhouse development on the waterway and the launching of anadvertising <br />and merchandising campaign. He also advised of plans now in process for a <br />Bayshore parkway which was to be a unique landmark with a 50' sculpture; re- <br />viewed marina park restaurant proposals; neghborhood shopping center, and further <br />development of land proposed for 1969 for additional townhouse and garden apart- <br />ment area. <br />City Manager reported Marine World construction proceedings on schedule for <br />opening planned on July 4th, and that Mr. Baruh would appear personally at next <br />month's Redwood Shores briefing to present the details of progress on this project. <br />Questions were asked concerning cost of water service in Redwood Shores and if new <br />planning had been made for Ralston Overpass. City Manager advised water supply <br />to the project is covered by an interim supply agreement with Belmont and even if <br />cost is a little excessive, no alternative possible at this time. Council will <br />soon be presented with a proposed water and sewer rate schedule for Shores project, <br />which would be different than that existing in City. He also advised he was <br />unaware of any new planning for Ralston Interchange other than that which had <br />F0 5 •68 <br />
