3 I c f
Mr. T. S. Khanna, representative of Peat, Marwick,
Livingston & Company, advised he had been informed of
the recommendation that Stage 5 be abandoned and modi-
fications recommended for Stages 6 and 7, and asked that
reconsideration be given before this step is taken, even
if modified as to elimination of the left turn prohibition
so that this portion might not be lost entirely for gather-
ing.of,statistics as felt Redwood City would be the main
benefactor with good results ensuing to both citizens and
merchants in spite of inconveniences which had been imposed.
Discussion and questioning held concerning conflict which might have resulted with
full scale staging of traffic study program and modified plan now proposed with the
utility improvement construction program, and concerns expressed for not allowing
the finishing of the program as originally planned. Councilman Henderson indicated
her disapproval of traffic study not being continued as had been originally approved.
Councilman Petersen questioned statements made that indicated evaluation would not
be completed of Stage 7.
After further discussion and in view of Staff's recommendation, Councilman Bury
moved to accept City Manager's report and recommendation and also to request that
he notify the Traffic Consultants, Peat, Marwick and Livingston, of City's decision
for continuation of a modified plan, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. After ques-
tioning intent of motion, Councilman Henderson moved to amend motion to include
City Manager's negotiating with Consultants to incorporate any phase of Stage 5 into
the concluding stages of the study which are possible because of the importance of
this stage to the total study. Amendment lost for lack of a second.
is
Police Chief stated he understood even if Stage 5/eliminated entirely, that some
of its phases would be incorporated into Stages 6 and 7, thereby still modifying
these stages from its presently presented concept. Councilman Bury restated his
motion to request Consultants be made aware of Council's action so that they can
readjust their program, seconded by Councilman Rosselli. Motion carried, Council-
man Henderson voting no. (MINUTE ORat #68-4a) Further questioning held concern-
ing incorporating some parts of Stage 5 into last two stages.
Councilman Petersen moved that City Manager consult with the research consultants,
Peat, Marwick & Livingston, and if he agrees with any suggestions made by them for
incorporating phases of Stage 5 into the last two stages, that they be brought
back to Council for approval, seconded by Councilman Henderson. Motion carried on
roll call vote, Councilman Rosselli voting no. (MINUTE ORDER #68-4b)
Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5576 BEING RESOLUTION OF INTENTION
TO VACATE SPUR TRACK EASEMENT, seconded by Councilman Keckley.
Staff report stated Ampex Corporation had requested City to abandon spur track
easement adjacent to Northerly and Southerly lines of Lot 13, Block 7, Redwood In-
dustrial Tract No. 2, and since this easement is not being used and is not neces-
sary for the purpose, Staff recommends that City vacate the easement. Resolution
sets public hearing for February 5, 1968. Motion carried on roll call vote.
REPORT OF BID OPENING, Four mon Pick -Up Trucks (Dept.
