388 <br />City Clerk advised final date for submission of arguments on the ballot would <br />be March 1st in order to meet first mailing date schedule on sample ballots. <br />Councilman Granger again questioned qualifying wording on City Engineer and urged <br />consideration that he be required to be a practicing engineer under laws of State <br />of California for a period of 3 years prior to his apointment. Motion carried <br />on roll call vote. (MINUTE ORDER #68-36) <br />Mayor Herkner asked for any discussion by those present onCity's proposed <br />amendments and received no reply from any of citizens present. Mayor Herkner <br />also questioned whether any further consideration had been given to Councilman <br />Granger's request concerning qualifications of the City Engineer and was advised <br />Commitee was satisfied with wording but this too would be reconsidered by the <br />Committee. <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5598 REQUESTING COUNTY CLERK <br />OF SAN MATEO COUNTY TO RENDER SPECIFIED ELECTION SERVICES PURSUANT TO SECTION <br />22003 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE AND TO FURNISH VOTING MACHINES, seconded by <br />Counc3Uman Keekley. <br />Council was advised this request to County for specified election services <br />covered the customary services needed by the City for furnishing of voting <br />machines, indexes of voters, addressing polling place notices, inserting <br />sample ballots, etc. It was noted funds for this service were included in the <br />appropriation for election costs in current budget. Motion carried on roll <br />call vote. <br />It was also asked by Councilman Henderson that Charter Committee during <br />their review consider basing Council compensation on a specific dollar amount <br />rather than on approval of the General Law Cities schedule. Councilman Bury <br />advised he would ask that Charter Committee meet Wednesday, February 7th, at <br />7:30 a.m. and this point would be reconsidered. (Memo 2/6/68) <br />Application of J. E. McCARTHY & SONS, INC., for exception to the Subdivision <br />Ordinance to allow access to an improved public street by means of a single <br />accessway 20' in width, Northwesterly side of Vera Avenue, opposite Dickey <br />Street near Myrtle Street (Lot 32, Block 4, Jefferson Acres) in an "R-2" <br />District, presented for consideration. <br />It was reported that Planning Commission had considered this matter during <br />two meetings and had recommended approval of the exception, subject to <br />certain specific conditions as follows: <br />1. That the proposed access -way to the two parcels in <br />question meet the requirement of the Fire Dept. <br />2. That authorization be obtained from Hetch Hetchy for <br />access rights to the parcels in question. <br />3. That an agreement be reached with the City for access <br />rights across city -owned property in lieu of relin- <br />quishing access rights on Vera Avenue. <br />
