Councilman Keekley moved to approve Minutes of Regular Meeting of February 12, 1968,
as mailed, seconded by Councilman Bury and carried.
PUBLIC HEARING, Application of RUBY P. SMALLCOMB, et al; to amend the Zoning Map to
rezone property from "CN" District (Neighborhood Commercial) to "CG" District
(General Commercial) being located at 1902-1926 E1 Camino Real, being Lot 1
and northeasterly 82.33' of Lot 4, Reese Subdivision (APN northwesterly half
of 53-281-32) declared open and affidavits of publication and mailing ordered
filed.
Report of the Planning Commission read in which it was stated, after a public
hearing had been held, Commission had recommended approval of the rezoning.
Planning Staff's report read in which area in question described as being
the northwesterly one-half of an existing neighborhood shopping area containing
four restaurants and a dry cleaning establishment. It was reported request for
this rezoning pertained to the one restaurant, Vienna Doughnuts, desiring to
expand its operation by on-site sale of beer and wine, which the present zoning
district prohibits, although adjacent restaurants have this operation because
of being in such operation prior to the establishment of the present zoning
district. It was also noted the proposed change of zone would be an expansion
of the "CG" District presently abutting on the northerly side of the area in
question, and that approximately 800 of all property fronting on El Camino in
Redwood City is presently in the "CG" District.
There being no communications or oral protest, Councilman Rosselli moved to
close the public hearing, seconded by Councilman Petersen and carried.
Councilman Rosselli moved to introduce Ordinance adding Section 60.2.28 to
Ordinance No. 1130, the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, rezoning property in
the vicinity of E1 Camino Real and Oak Avenue, seconded by Councilman Bury.
Councilman Rosselli stated his motion to approve rezoning based on fact omission
of this one parcel from the prevailing zoning had been an error when Zoning
Ordinance adopted. Planning Director stated reason for this omission not re-
searched, but it had also been reasoning of the Planning Commission that this
application might also have been denied in order that whole of this shopping
center be changed to the CG zoning, but after consideration of the cost factor
involved, it was thought best to correct this one situation as now requested.
Motion carried.
PUBLIC HEARING, Application of BAY CITY FLOWER COMPANY to amend the Zoning Map to
rezone property from "R-5" District (Multi -Family) to "CG" District (General
Commercial) located at 1034 Whipple Avenue, being Lot 8, Wellesley Park Sub-
division No. 2, Map No. 1 (APN 52-082-19) declared open and affidavits of publi-
cation and mailing ordered filed.
FEB 19 '68
