election, said voting machines shall be arranged (1) so that <br />any qualified elector may vote for any Charter amendment pro- <br />position by pulling down a lever adjacent to the word "YES" <br />under or near a statement of the Charter amendment proposition <br />appearing on the cardboard, paper or other material placed <br />on the front of the machine, and said act shall constitute a <br />vote for the proposition; and (2.) so that any qualified <br />elector may vote against any such Charter amendment proposi- <br />tion by pulling down a lever adjacent to the word "NO" under <br />or near said statement of the proposition so placed on the <br />front of the machine, and said act shall constitute a vote <br />against the proposition. Said voting machines and the pre- <br />paration thereof shall comply in all respects with the re- <br />quirements of law. <br />(d) The returns of said election shall be made out <br />and signed by the election officers and as otherwise required <br />by law and shall be deposited with the City Clerk; and this <br />Council shall meet at its usual meeting place and canvass <br />said returns at its regular meeting on Monday, the 15th day <br />of April, 1968 (being the first Monday after said election), <br />at the hour of 7:30 p.m. (P.S.T.) and declare the results of <br />said general municipal election and such other special muni- <br />cipal elections as may heretofore or hereafter be called <br />and consolidated herewith. <br />SECTION 2. The Council of the City of Redwood City <br />hereby proposes, on its own motion, to amend the Charter <br />of the City of Redwood City, by deleting Sections 31 and 45 <br />thereof.
