Section 4.0— Environmental Settinz and Discussion oflmpacts <br />4.15 RECREATION <br />4.15.1 Existing Setting <br />Redwood City has over 30 parks and two outdoor poolS.36 One of the City's parks, Sandpiper Park, <br />is located on the project site. Sandpiper Park includes a synthetic turf athletic field, a play structure, <br />and a paved recreation area with a basketball court. An existing Joint Use Agreement between the <br />City and the District allows the District to use the Sandpiper Park facilities as part of school <br />operations and an after-school daycare program. The incremental increase in demand and loss of existing parkland that <br />would be used to accommodate the proposed two-story classroom building, however, would not <br />substantially deteriorate or accelerate deterioration of the existing recreational facilities on the project <br />site.
