Section 4.0—Environmental Setting and Discussion of Impacts
4.17.3.4 Solid Waste Impacts (Checklist Questions b and 7)
Development of the proposed project would incrementally increase solid waste generation on the
school site. The two-story classroom building would be constructed in accordance with the
California Green Building Standards Code and General Plan Policy BE -45.3, which would reduce
waste from construction of the project. The solid waste generated by the project site is disposed at
Ox Mountain Sanitary Landfill, which is estimated to have capacity to operate through 2029. The
City of Redwood City currently diverts 61 percent of its waste from landfills; therefore,
approximately 61 percent of the solid waste generated by operation of proposed project would be
diverted from Ox Mountain Sanitary LandfilI.42 Additionally, According to Cal Recycle Ox
Mountain Sanitary Landfill has a substantial amount of remaining capacity to continue receiving
solid waste from Redwood City and other jurisdictions. For these reasons the incremental increase in
solid waste generated by the proposed project would be served by a landfill with sufficient capacity.
(Less Than Significant Impact)
4.17.4 Conclusion
The proposed project would not result in significant utilities and service system impacts. (Less Than
Significant Impact)
;' City of Redwood City. City of Redwood City General Plan EIR.
