Task C: Encouragement. The purpose of the encouragement task is to promote events and activities to <br />encourage walking bicycling transportation to and from school. The contractor will coordinate and <br />implement the SRTS encouragement activities described below at each of the target schools: <br />• Organize and promote annual celebrations for International Walk to School Day and Bike to School <br />Day <br />• Produce attractive publicity materials and purchase publicity materials such as banners, posters, and <br />media <br />• Coordinate celebration activities and on-going Walk/Roll Wednesday (or similar) activities <br />• Evaluate event effectiveness by conducting participation counts for each event <br />• Publicize events and activities via press release or social media <br />• Promote and organize incentive activities such as "Golden Sneaker' awards in collaboration with <br />school staff <br />• Organize activities including Walking School Buses and Bike Trains where groups of students walk or <br />bike together from common neighborhoods on a regular basis <br />• Provide technical support for designated satellite drop-off areas and bike/walk route <br />recommendations <br />Task D: Enforcement. The purpose of the enforcement task is to increase awareness of and compliance <br />with traffic rules, improving the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
