students, and increase traffic safety for all roadway users in unincorporated North Fair <br />Oaks; and <br />WHEREAS, the County's Office of Sustainability has developed a grant proposal <br />in partnership with Redwood City 2020 for the "Sustainable Transportation <br />Encouragement Program" (STEP), which, among other things, will increase walking and <br />bicycling as a means of enhancing health and reducing traffic congestion through three <br />main components consisting of an enhanced Safe Routes to Schools program, a <br />community -wide transportation demand management and social marketing program, <br />and data collection and analysis; and <br />WHEREAS, on June 30, 2016, the CTC approved the County's Office of <br />Sustainability and Redwood City 2020 ATP grant application allocating $963,000 under <br />the Cycle 2 of the ATP funds for the Redwood City 2020 STEP in unincorporated North <br />Fair Oaks: and <br />WHEREAS, on September 6, 2016, the County of San Mateo Board of <br />Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 074751 accepting the CTC grant funds in the <br />amount of $963,000; and <br />WHEREAS, as stated in the Redwood City 2020 STEP grant application, <br />Redwood City 2020 will oversee and implement the Safe Routes to Schools component <br />of the grant to continue and expand the current Safe Routes to Schools program offered <br />at five elementary schools located in unincorporated North Fair Oaks; and <br />WHEREAS, this agreement between the County's Office of Sustainability and <br />Redwood City 2020 states that Redwood City 2020 staff will administer the STEP Safe <br />Routes to Schools components and tasks and will be required to coordinate and <br />
