Sec. 9.74. SECTION 2509.3 OF THE BUILDING CODE AMENDED: Section 2509.3 of the Building Code is amended to read as follows: 2509.3 Limitations. Water resistant gypsum backing board shall not be used in the following locations: 1. Over a vapor retarder in shower or bathtub compartments. 2. Where there will be direct exposure to water or in areas subject to continuous high humidity. 3. In shower compartments and other wet locations. Sec. 9.75. SECTION 2603.4.1.5 OF THE BUILDING CODE AMENDED: Section 2603.4.1.5 of the Building Code is amended to delete the reference to Class C roof - covering assembly and to read as follows: 2603.4.1.5 Roofing. Foam plastic insulation under a roof assembly or roof covering that is installed in accordance with the code and the manufacturer's instructions shall be separated from the interior of the building by wood structural panel sheathing not less than 0.47 inch (11.9 mm) in thickness bonded with exterior glue, with edges supported by blocking, tongue -and -groove joints or other approved type of edge support, or an equivalent material. A thermal barrier is not required for foam plastic insulation that is a part of a Class A or B roof -covering assembly, provided the assembly with the foam plastic insulation satisfactorily passes FM 4450 or UL 1256. SECTION 4. A n e w Article VI of Chapter 9 of the Redwood City Code is hereby added to read as follows: ARTICLE VI AMENDMENTS TO 2016 CALIFORNIA PLUMBING CODE Sec. 9.76. SECTION 408.6 OF THE PLUMBING CODE AMENDED: Section 408.6 of the Plumbing Code is amended to read as follows: 408.6 Shower Compartments. Shower compartments, regardless of shape, shall have a minimum finished interior of 1024 square inches (0.6606 m2) and shall also be capable of encompassing a 30 inch (762 mm) circle. The minimum required area and dimensions shall be measured at a height equal to the top of the threshold and at a point tangent to its centerline.
