B. Redwood Shores Community Library Update <br />Council Member Foust stated that a brief update on the proposed Redwood <br />Shores Library and State grant. <br />Library Director Genesy stated that the schematic phase is finishing up, and the <br />project is running on time and on budget. He described the library plan that is a <br />beautiful approximately 22,000 square foot community facility with many meeting <br />spaces. The facility will be a high -tech library with lots of spaces for different <br />types of folks and a bookstore look for the collection. <br />Genesy stated that there will be a formal community meeting August 17 at 7:00 <br />p.m. at the Pelican Cove Recreation Center. This meeting will be to update the <br />public and solicit public input. <br />Genesy stated that the Library Foundation has charged themselves with coming <br />up with the opening day collection funds of $800,000.00. A consultant has <br />devised a strategic plan to be raised in three phases <br />Public Comment: <br />Rory Faber endorsed the comments of Library Director Genesy that the Redwood <br />Shores Community is grateful to the Council and staff and the energy and <br />enthusiasm to participate in raising the funds in the community. He stated that <br />work as begun with steering committees that are under the auspices of Georgi <br />LaBerge and Sandra Cooperman. He welcomed everyone to the August 17 <br />meeting. <br />Council comments included excitement with the project and working together in <br />obtaining the grant in light of the budget concerns. <br />Recommendation: <br />Information -only. <br />C. Council Member Hartnett — stated that it has been mentioned several times <br />that the referendum petition against the Marina Shores ordinance would be <br />submitted soon and will likely qualify for the ballot. He asked that the Mayor and <br />Vice Mayor keep the November election schedule in mind during scheduling. <br />D.
