Even <br />year statewide elections result in lower costs to the City because other agencies share <br />the cost of conducting the election, and this is particularly true for November statewide <br />elections as fewer agencies participate in June statewide elections. This change would <br />necessitate extending each member’s term by twelve months. Such an extension is <br />allowed under the City Charter. <br /> <br />Option A: Hold Election 2018 and 2020 <br /> (Increase current elected officials’ terms by 12 months) <br /> <br />Option B: Hold Elections in 2017 and 2019 for Five Year City Council Terms <br /> <br />At the October 17, 2016 Council meeting, the Council was presented with a number of <br />alternatives.
