1. Monthly salary of $22,201 per month ($266,412 annually). This represents an
increase of 7.42% over the City Manager’s current salary.
2. Increase in professional development budget from $750 annually to $2,400
annually.
3. Cell phone allowance of $75 per month, for expenses related to the use of a
personal cell phone in the regular course of business.

The recommended adjustments will bring the City Manager’s total compensation in line
with the market median, and ensure a 5% differential between the City Manager and
highest-paid subordinate.

ALTERNATIVES
1. Council may choose not to grant salary and benefit adjustments at this time;
2. Council may request that the Personnel Sub-committee propose an alternative
salary and benefit package for the City Manager.

FISCAL IMPACT
The combined salary and benefit increases will result in a total annual cost of $27,500.
This amount includes salary, salary-driven benefits (such as pension contributions), and
required payroll taxes.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under CEQA as defined in CEQA Guidelines, section
15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or foreseeable physical
change in the environment.

JOHN D.
