the position of City Clerk. Ms. Peckham has over 30 years of executive search <br />experience, primarily with California cities and other local governments. She has led <br />successful City Clerk searches, resulting in placements for the cities of Hayward, Long <br />Beach, Monterey, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Mateo, Santa Cruz and Walnut Creek. <br />In addition, Ms. Peckham worked with the City Council on the recently concluded <br />recruitment for City Attorney, resulting in the appointment of Veronica Ramirez in <br />August 2016. With her extensive recruitment experience and recent experience with <br />Redwood City, Ms. Peckham is highly qualified to locate and engage highly skilled <br />candidates to meet the unique needs and priorities for the Redwood City community <br />and City Council. <br /> <br />If approved, the planning, outreach, and selection process will begin immediately. This <br />work is expected to be concluded in May 2017, with the goal of making an appointment <br />prior to Ms. Vonderlinden’s retirement. The phases of this process will include: <br /> <br />Planning <br />· Conduct a kick-off meeting with the Personnel Subcommittee to discuss a <br />recruitment process and develop a recruitment plan <br />· Develop a candidate profile and marketing brochure with input from the City <br />Council <br /> <br />Outreach <br />· Conduct extensive outreach advertising and distribution to industry professionals <br />· Search for, identify, and recruit individuals within the parameters of the <br />Candidate profile <br /> <br />Preliminary Interviews/Recommendation <br />· Review candidate submissions and conduct preliminary interviews <br />· Conduct preliminary background checks <br />· Present written recommendation of finalists to City Council for consideration <br /> <br />Final Interviews and Selection <br />· Schedule, design and facilitate candidate interviews with City Council <br />· Conduct final background checks and assistance with final appointment <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Request that the Personnel Subcommittee review and recommend an alternative <br />Executive Search firm for Council consideration. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />6.1.C. - Page 2
