Mayor Greenalch declared the Public Hearing open at 7:55 p.m. and invited
anyone who wished to speak to do so.
Nathaniel E. Flynn, appellant, owner of 1548 Hudson Street, described his
concerns with the proposed project:
a. Shadows will be cast across his pool by the proposed new buildings in
their current configuration which will result in loss of use and enjoyment
and privacy.
b. The proposed development creates unacceptable density at the corner of
the subject property adjacent to his pool.
c. Recreation and pool areas create noise and this would be bothersome to
the residents of the buildings immediately adjacent to his pool area.
In response to Council questions Mr. Flynn agreed that an Environmental
Impact Report was not needed and understood the permit process this
development will follow.
David Espy, 168 Bonita Avenue, Redwood City advised the sun measurements
used by Mr. Flynn were taken in the winter and the actual sun available in
the summer would be very different.
Gary Ernst, 2414 Lake Boulevard, Redwood City, advised he would be willing
to move units 5, 6 and 7 two feet from the fence at 1548 Hudson Street.
M /S: Stangel /Murray to close the Public Hearing.
Carried by unanimous voice vote and Public Hearing closed at 8:10 p.m.
M /S: Murray / Stangel to deny appeal by Nathaniel E.
