- Planning Director Patterson, City Engineer Luck, Administrative <br />Secretary Filippi and Housing /Redevelopment'Agency Director Church <br />presented examples of strategies for the Community Development <br />Department. <br />In response to Council questions City Manager Smith ad ised the department <br />strategies described here were part of an on -going pro�ess and each department <br />would submit final strategies for Council consideration during the budget <br />process. <br />-------------------------------------------------------- <br />2. ECONOMIC POLICIES <br />Report: Decisions 2000, Coordination with 1990 -92 Budget Yellow Folder <br />a. How they were developed <br />b. Discussion of policies. <br />City Manager Smith advised the Economic Strategies ',list was the product <br />of a committee of local citizens and business leaders and was provided as a <br />starting point to discussions by the Council and Planning Commission and all <br />background material was in the larger binder of Decisions 2000. <br />Council Members Murray and Greenalch and Planning ommissioners Nobles and <br />O'Connell expressed disappointment with the list, suggested many of the <br />items were inappropriate and more work was needed before an economic policy <br />could be considered. <br />Councilmembers Buchan and Bury commented on the list as a good starting point <br />for discussions. <br />City Manager Smith advised the proposed economic strategies were background <br />for an Economic Policy, not an Economic Element, to be forged by the City <br />Council. <br />Councilman Greenalch, in regard to the proposed economic strategies list, <br />suggested: <br />a. return for staff input and refinement; <br />b. submit to Planning Commission for their review; and <br />c. set time lines <br />CONSENSUS: It was determined by Mayor La Berge that it was the consensus of <br />the Council to refer the economic policy question to staff for their input <br />and then to the Planning Commission for their review before coming back to <br />the Council sometime during the next 6 to 9 month time line. <br />-------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />Adj.Reg.Mtg.
