<br />31 <br /> <br />ARTICLE 18 - HOLIDAYS <br /> <br />18.1 Recognized Holidays <br /> <br />Regular, full-time workers will receive eight (8) hours holiday pay per recognized holiday. Recognized <br />holidays are as follows: <br /> <br />New Year's Day <br />Martin Luther King Jr. Day (observed on the third Monday in January) <br />Presidents’ Day (observed on the third Monday in February) <br />Memorial Day (observed on the last Monday in May) <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day (observed on the first Monday in September) <br />Veterans Day (observed November 11) <br />Thanksgiving Day <br />The Day After Thanksgiving <br />Christmas Eve <br />Christmas Day <br />New Year's Eve <br /> <br />Two administrative holidays and such other days as may be proclaimed local holidays. Administrative <br />holidays may only be taken in eight (8) hour increments. At the option of the worker, a worker may receive <br />pay at the worker's straight-time rate of pay in lieu of one or both of the administrative holidays at eight (8) <br />hours per administrative holiday. In the event that one or both of the administrative holidays are not used by <br />the last pay period paid in the year (based on the preceding 26 pay periods), payment will be made no later <br />than the first pay period in February. <br /> <br />18.2 Weekend Holidays <br /> <br />When any of the above holidays falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered the holiday. <br />When any of the above holidays falls on Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be considered the holiday. <br /> <br />Communication Dispatchers shall observe Independence Day, Veterans’ Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New <br />Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day on the actual date of the holiday. <br />18.3 Work on a Holiday <br /> <br />Any worker who is required to work on any of the holidays, specified in Article 18.1.1 above shall, in addition <br />to regular pay for such holiday, be paid one and one-half (1-1/2) times his/her established rate of pay for all <br />hours actually worked on such holiday. <br /> <br />18.4 Holiday During Vacation <br /> <br />In the event any of the holidays specified in Article 18.1.1 above occurs while a worker is on vacation or sick <br />leave, the holiday shall not be charged as vacation or sick leave. <br /> <br />18.5 Holidays on A Regular Day Off <br /> <br />If any holiday specified in Article 18.1.1 above falls on a worker's regular day off, the worker shall be allowed <br />a regular workday off at a time determined by agreement between the worker and the Department Head or <br />his or her designated representative. <br />6.3.B. - Page 41
