<br />33 <br /> <br />period) that yields 200 hours of vacation per year. <br /> <br />19.3 Vacation leave shall not be accumulated in excess of two (2) years accrued vacation leave computed <br />through the pay period that includes the 31st of December, except upon written authorization of the <br />Personnel Officer. <br /> <br />19.4 In the event a worker is reinstated, prior service shall be included in determining the applicable rate of <br />accrual of vacation leave. <br /> <br />Upon termination of employment a regular worker shall be paid cash value of his/her accrued vacation leave <br />at the time of termination, in accordance with the above schedule. <br /> <br />19.5 Illness During Vacation <br /> <br />19.5.1 A worker who commences a scheduled vacation period and subsequently becomes ill before his or <br />her vacation period has been completed shall be placed on illness leave under the following <br />conditions: <br /> <br />19.5.2 The worker otherwise qualifies for illness leave as provided by this Agreement; and, <br /> <br />19.5.3 The worker, if no longer ill, returns to duty immediately following the vacation period; and, <br /> <br />19.5.4 The worker's illness is verified by a statement from an accredited medical doctor for each such day <br />of illness leave requested. <br /> <br />19.5.5 When the worker's vacation leave is to be converted to illness leave, the appropriate vacation <br />credit shall be restored to the worker's earned vacation balance, and a reasonable opportunity to <br />utilize this vacation credit shall be provided within the City's existing practices in order to avoid loss <br />of vacation credit. <br /> <br /> <br />ARTICLE 20 - LEAVE PROVISIONS <br /> <br />20.1 Sick Leave <br /> <br />20.1.1 Sick leave with pay shall be granted to all full-time, regular workers at the rate of one (1) working <br />day (eight (8) hours) for each full calendar month of service from the commencement of their <br />employment with the City. This is prorated for part-time workers regularly scheduled to work half <br />time (20 hours per workweek) or more. <br /> <br />20.1.2 Sick leave is paid leave from work that can be used for the following purposes: <br />1) diagnosis, care, or treatment of an existing health condition of, or <br />preventative care for, an employee or any of the following of the employee’s <br />family members: child of any age or dependency status; parent; parent-in- <br />law; spouse; registered domestic partner; grandparent; grandchildren; or <br />sibling; or <br />2) for an employee who is a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, or <br />stalking to: i) obtain or attempt to obtain a temporary restraining order or <br />6.3.B. - Page 43
