ATTY/RESO.0023/CC RESO APPROVING EXTENSION OF THE RWC FIRE SAFETY PILOT PROGRAM <br />REV: 03-02-17 RL <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />RESOLUTION NO. ______ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY <br />APPROVING EXTENSION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FIRE <br />SAFETY FIRST PILOT PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the City of Redwood City Fire Safety First <br />Pilot Program (“Fire Safety First Pilot Program”) to promote compliance with the <br />requirements of Section 12.18 of the City’s Fire Code through Resolution No. 15428, <br />adopted on July 27, 2015; and <br />WHEREAS, the Fire Safety First Pilot Program was established as a five year pilot <br />program that would conclude on July 1, 2020; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the purposes of the Fire Safety First Pilot Program is advancing <br />and protecting public safety by facilitating the installation of automatic sprinkler systems <br />in eligible buildings earlier than the July 1, 2020 deadline for completing such required <br />installations imposed by Section 12.18 of the City’s Fire Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council intends to adopt an ordinance extending the <br />effectiveness of the Section 12.18 automatic sprinkler system requirements until July 1, <br />2022; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to extend the Fire Safety First Pilot Program <br />for an additional two years until July 1, 2022 to facilitate the Fire Safety First Pilot <br />Program’s purpose of advancing and protecting public safety by facilitating the installation <br />of automatic sprinkler systems in eligible buildings. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct and constitute the findings <br />in this matter. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Redwood City hereby extends the Fire <br />Safety First Pilot Program for an additional two years until July 1, 2022. <br /> <br />Section 3. This Resolution will not take effect unless and until Ordinance No. <br />_____ becomes effective. <br />6.4.A. - Page 4
