' STABLISFa;1f£.FdT 037 A PORT MPARTM!MIrIT: To promote and more <br />definitely insure the comprehensive and adequate development of the Port of <br />Redwood City through continuity of control, management and operation, there <br />is hereby croatod a department of the City of Rsdvood City to be knowm as the <br />"Port Department". <br />Section 47a. BOARD Or PORT COMISSIONLIRS: Tho exclusive control and <br />manng"ent of the Port Department is hereby vested in the Board of Port Com- <br />missioners, which shall be composed of five (5) members, who shall. be appointed <br />by the City Manager, subject to the approval of the Council. <br />Ido person shall be appointed as a member of the Board who is not at the <br />time of his appointment, and has not bean continuously for three (3) years <br />immediately proceoding, a qualified elector of the City of Redwood City. <br />The members of the Board shall nerve without salary or compensation. <br />Section 47b. ORGMIZATION, !IMS OF OFFICE: 77ithin thirty (30) days <br />after the ratification of this smendmont by the Legislature, the City Manager <br />shall :mpoint five (5) nersona as members of the first Hoard, subject to the <br />approval of the Council. <br />The members so appointed shall immediately organize by the election of <br />a President, Vice -President and Secretary, and make provision for stated meetings, <br />and shall determine, from time to timo, when and where the Board shall hold its <br />meetings, which shall be open to the public. <br />Said persons shall, thereupon, also cast lots for their respective terms: <br />One (1) of whom shall serve until the first Monday of July, 1938. <br />Two (2) of whom shall serve until the first Monday of July, 1940. <br />Two (2) of whom shall. serve until tho first Mondry of July, 1942. <br />At the enniration of the term of each of said persons so appointed, <br />their successors shall be .appointed by the City Mnnws,er, subject to the approval <br />of the Council, for a Hill term of five (5) years, except in the case of a vacancy, <br />in which event the nnnointraont shall be for the uncrpired term. <br />Section 47c. 11,71.'MVAL: Any member of the Board m.s„y be removed from <br />office on a five-sover-Uls (5/7) vote of the whole Council,ve <br />mayorit-o-ths s�itegeeiint3' v..r ,. _ d .ins by hm "City enegi"tl� or <br />by recall as provided in Section 6 of this Charter. <br />
