Mixed-Use Development and Transit Trip Reduction Evaluation March 20, 2017
P a g e | 3
Table 2
Transit Trip Reductions
2014 Transit Mode Share in Downtown
Redwood City DPP EIR Transit Reduction
17%1 5.6% daily/ 7.3% AM peak hour/ 6.0% PM peak hour
1. Source: MTC Commute Model Choice http://www.vitalsigns.mtc.ca.gov/commute-mode-choice
Conclusions
The evaluation shows that based on the current information, the mixed-use and transit trip
reductions for development in the DPP area would be greater than the trips reductions estimated in
the DPP EIR because of smaller household size, fewer vehicles owned per household, increased
employment surrounding the DPP area, and an increase in the transit mode share. Therefore,
using the DPP EIR trip reduction percentages for the 1409 El Camino Real traffic study would not
under-estimate vehicle trips generated by the project.
8.A. - Page 127
