M/S Masur/Borgens to direct staff to move elections to a Primary Election in <br />2018 and 2020 for 4.5 year terms then would move back to November <br />Elections in 2022 and 2024. Motion failed 3-2-2 by roll call vote with <br />Council Members Aguirre, Howard and Bain opposing, Borgens and <br />Council Member Masur approving, and Council Members Gee and <br />Mayor Seybert abstaining. <br />Motion by Council Member Aguirre to approve Option A. Motion failed for <br />lack of a second. <br />M/S Bain/Borgens to approve Option B. Motion failed 5-2 by roll call vote <br />with Council Members Gee, Howard, Masur, Aguirre and Seybert <br />opposing and Council Members Borgens and Bain voting in favor. <br />M/S Masur/Howard to direct staff to bring back an ordinance moving <br />Redwood City's next elections to the statewide primary elections in 2018 <br />and 2020 and subsequently consolidating with the statewide general <br />elections starting with November 2022. Motion carried 6-1 by roll call <br />vote with Vice Mayor Bain opposing. MO 17-019 <br />Council consensus was to have staff include cost estimates for such <br />actions in the staff report when it comes back. <br />Mayor Seybert announced he was adding Vice Mayor Bain to the <br />Charter committee to study two items: term limits for Boards, <br />Commission and Committees, similar to the City Council, and a <br />rotation policy for the Mayor position, with one year term duration. <br />MO 17-020 <br />C.
