CITY OF SAN MATEO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 66 (2015) <br />APPROVING THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO PUBLIC WORKS <br />MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT <br />WHEREAS, as- a result of the problems encountered during the stomm event response to heavy <br />winter storms in 2012 and 2013, San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services (OES) staff <br />approached the City/County Engineer's Association of Sana Mateo County and requested their assistance <br />addressing this issue; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the agreement is to provide an organized means of providing <br />voluntary mutual aid to neighboring entities during the event of a disaster, similar to mutual aid <br />agreements for police and fire services, with the exception that the Public Works Aid will not be <br />automatic; and <br />WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo and cities in San Mateo County have expressed a mutual <br />interest in the establishment of a plan to encourage public works mutual aid agreements; and <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of the proposed agreement, the "requesting party" will <br />reimburse the "assisting paw' for all costs related to providing assistance within sixty days, which <br />provides the additional advantage that pre-existing arrangements are oft= necessary to promptly obtain <br />reimbursement from State or Federal programs; <br />WHEREAS, Section 8630 et seq of the State.of California Government Code grants local <br />agencies full power to provide mutual aid pursuant to established agreements; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MATEO, <br />CALIFORNIA, HEREBY RESOLVES that: <br />1. The agreement for public works mutual aid with the County of San Mateo and other <br />participating communities and cities, "County of San Mateo Public Works Mutual Aid Agreement,,, to <br />include the City of San Mateo, is approved. <br />2, The City Manager is authorized to execute the Agreement on the City's behalf, <br />RESOLUTION NO. 66 (2015) adopted by the City Council of the City of San Mateo, California, at a <br />regular meeting held on July 20, 2015, by the following vote of the City Council; <br />AYES: Council Members Freschet, Matthews, Bonilla, Goethals and Linn <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ATTEST: <br />Patrice M.
