SWC:ky 3/16/32 <br />ORITNAL <br />O R D I N A N C E N 0. 1857 qp R 12 1982 <br />ORDINANCE ADDING CHAPTER 41 TO THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY RELATING TO FLOOD ZONE DEVELOPMENT <br />THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 41 is hereby added to the Code of the City <br />of Redwood City, to read as follows: <br />"CHAPTER 41. FLOOD ZONE MANAGEMENT <br />"Section 41.1. Title. This chapter shall be known as the <br />Flood Zone Management Ordinance of the City of Redwood City. <br />"Section 41.2. Findings and Purpose. The City Council <br />does find and declare that certain areas of the city are subject <br />to intermittent inundation which can result in loss of life, <br />property, health and safety hazards, disruptions of commerce and <br />public services, extraordinary public expenses for flood protec- <br />tion and relief, and impairment of the tax base; all of which <br />adversely affect the public health, safety and general welfare. <br />It is the purpose of this chapter -to prevent or minimize such <br />adverse effects and to enable owners and residents of property <br />in such special flood hazard areas to participate in the National <br />Flood Insurance Program, established by 42 U.S.C. 4001-4128. <br />"Section 41.3. Warning and Disclaimer of Liability. This <br />chapter does not imply that areas outside those designated as <br />areas of special flood hazard, nor that uses permitted within <br />areas designated as areas of special flood 'hazard will be free <br />from flooding or flood damages. Furthermore, this chapter shall <br />not create liability on the part of the city or of any officer or <br />employee thereof for any damage which may result from or be related <br />to flooding. <br />"Section 41.4. Definitions. For purposes of this chapter, <br />unless the context otherwise indicates, the following words and <br />phrases shall have the meaning respectively ascribed to them: <br />
