<br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The nine vehicles scheduled for replacement have already exceeded their useful life <br />and it would not be economically viable to invest in the continued use and repair of <br />these vehicles if they were to experience a major breakdown due to their age and <br />condition. Not approving the purchase of the vehicles would negatively impact the <br />operations of the Redwood City Police Department since the vehicles are intended to be <br />used on a daily basis. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds in the amount of $327,978 are available in the FY 2016-17 Equipment <br />Replacement Fund. This amount will be subsequently recovered from the Police <br />Department operating budget through vehicle replacement charges in future years. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br />This action is not a “project” within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality <br />Act (CEQA) because the purchase of nine Ford Police Interceptors will not cause a <br />direct physical change in the environment or reasonably foreseeable indirect physical <br />change in the environment.
