Recommended Changes to Redwood City’s Fee Schedule
Given the City’s goal in maintaining fiscally sustainable government services long-term,
and taking into account the feedback received from the City Council and the community,
recommended fees would result in 98-100% cost-recovery levels for Building, Planning,
Engineering, and Fire services, and a 72% cost-recovery level for Police services. The
proposed Fee Schedules reflecting the recommended changes are included in
Attachment 1.

If the recommended changes are adopted by the City Council, and current activity levels
continue, the new fee schedule would generate approximately $2.0 million to the City’s
General Fund, substantially offsetting the costs for providing these services. A detailed
comparison of the full cost of providing services, and current and proposed fees for
each department/division are included in Attachment 2. The potential revenue offset is
illustrated in the below chart.
