Some computers failed to speed up significantly <br />after internet speed increased 20x, and an analysis revealed that <br />network wiring was not optimized for higher speeds. Installing CAT- <br />6 cabling will realize immediate benefits, but also prepare us to <br />take advantage of the 10 gigabit connection we anticipate having <br />soon. Funds approved in the FY2016-17 CIP will fix the most <br />outdated wiring but additional funding is needed to complete the <br />project. The Peninsula Library System plans to upgrade wireless <br />access points in all libraries to the 802.11ac standard to increase <br />both speed and security during FY2017-18. <br />Planning Design Construction <br />Current Status <br />10 of 140 <br />9.A - Page 36
