SECTION 5. Any regular employee appointed to a position in <br /> any of the classifications designated in Section 1 hereof who is <br /> assigned in writing the duties of a job classification with a higher <br /> salary range than that to which he is regularly assigned, on a <br /> temporary basis, for at least one full working day shall, commencing <br /> upon the first full working day of such assignment, receive in lieu <br /> of his established rate of pay, compensation at the lowest step or <br /> rate of pay for the job classification to which duties he has been <br /> assigned, representing an increase of at least five percent above <br /> the rate paid to such employee immediately prior to such assignment <br /> for that time worked; provided, however, that in no event shall such <br /> employee receive in excess of the highest step or rate of pay of the <br /> higher salary range. <br /> SECTION 6. The provisions of the foregoing sections of this <br /> ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding, if a position allocated <br /> to a given class in the competitive service is reallocated to a <br /> different class in order to correct an error or to provide for a <br /> change in the incumbent of the position so reallocated, and the <br /> maximum salary provided for the position as reallocated is less than <br /> the salary received by the incumbent prior to reallocation, then <br /> said incumbent shall continue to be compensated at the rate paid <br /> said incumbent prior to such reallocation. <br /> SECTION 7. Ordinance No. 1696 , adopted February 7, 1977, <br /> entitled "An Ordinance Establishing a Salary and Wage Plan for <br /> Certain Designated Employees of the City of Redwood City; and, <br /> Repealing Ordinance No. 1621, " is hereby repealed. <br /> SECTION 8. This ordinance shall be effective 30 days after <br /> its adoption; provided, however, the provisions hereof shall not be <br /> operative until July 1, 1979, excepting the provisions contained in <br /> Section 3 hereof which shall be operative retroactively to and <br /> including February 1, 1979, with respect to the positions of Lead <br /> Communications Dispatcher and Police Communications Dispatcher. <br /> -4- <br />
