Section 2.9 of the Redwood City Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"Section 2.9 Except as provided in Sections 2.10
and 2.11 City administrative offices shall be open for
the transaction of business during the hours of 9:00 A.M.
to 4:00 P.M. every day except Saturdays, Sundays and
holidays. "
SECTION 2. This ordinance is hereby declared by the Council
of Redwood City to be necessary as an emergency measure for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety
in that the reduction in hours in which administrative offices
of the City shall be open to the public for business is
necessitated by a reduction in the work force of the City
commencing on July 1, 1978. Said reduction in the work force
is necessitated by the anticipated reduction in ad valorem
real property tax revenues pursuant to Article XIIIA of the
Constitution of the State of California, added by initiative
amendment, the pertinent provisions of which are operative
July 1, 1978. The reduction in said revenues and concomitant
reduction in work force are reflected in the City's annual budget
for the fiscal year July 1, 1978 - June 30, 1979, and the
remaining revenues, used for the usual and current expenses of
the City, are necessary to preserve the public peace, health,
and safety.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective upon its
adoption, and the provisions hereof shall be operative on and
after July 1, 1978.
I 757
..-<..
