CHARTER AgENDMENT PROPOSITION NO. 5 <br />Section 17 of the Charter of the City of Redwood City is <br />hereby amended to read es follows: <br />"Section 17. PLANNING COMMISSION: <br />There shall be a city planning commission, which <br />shall consist of seven members, who shall be appointed by <br />the Council, to serve for three (3) years each, without <br />compensation, none of whom shall hold any other public <br />office or position in the city. The commission shall elect <br />its chairman from among its members. Neither the City <br />Attorney, the City Engineer, nor any deputy or assistant of <br />either of them, shall have the right to vote or enter into <br />deliberations but shall be present in an advisory capacity <br />only. <br />The planning commission shall exercise all powers and <br />duties granted it by ordinance or resolution of the Council <br />now or hereafter in effect and shall exercise such additional <br />powers and duties as may now or hereafter be provided for <br />by such general laws of the State as are not in conflict with <br />this charter, or any ordinance or resolution of the Council. <br />The members of the present city planning commission in <br />office at the time of this charter taking effect shall con- <br />tinue in office until the end of the terms for which they <br />have been respectively appointed." <br />Said Charter Amendment Proposition No. 5 shall be su baitted <br />to the electors in the form of a proposition printed on the ballot <br />at said general municipal election as follows: <br />"CHARTER AMENDMENT PROPOSITION N0. 5 <br />Shall Charter Amendment Proposition No. 5 <br />amending Section 17 of the Charter of the City of <br />Redwood City to provide that the planning commission <br />shall be governed by local ordinances or resolutions and <br />such general laws of the State as are not in conflict <br />- 10 - <br />
