ALTERNATIVES <br />The City Council may choose not to award the construction contract and direct staff to <br />redesign and/or rebid this project. The Council may choose not to approve the sidewalk <br />easment and direct staff to eliminate the sidewalk from the project improvements or to <br />construct the sidewalk within existing public street right-of-way (which would require <br />elimination of the existing right turn lane on northbound Middlefield Road at Woodside <br />Road). <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds for the Middlefield Road and Woodside Road Intersection Improvements Project <br />have been previously approved and appropriated in the Gas Tax Construction Fund, <br />Traffic Mitigation Fees Fund, and Transportation Grants Fund. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br />As a partially federally-funded project, the California Department of Transportation is the <br />lead agency for NEPA compliance and has determined that the project is a Categorical <br />Exclusion under 23 CFR 771.117(c)(3). As the lead agency for CEQA compliance, the <br />City of Redwood City has determined that the project meets the CEQA exemption <br />criteria as set forth in Section 15301 (Existing Facilities).
