Shurtleff, <br />RhodyCo Productions (contact Julie Kernan & Dave Rhody), for the San Francisco <br />ChroIÙcle (contact: Diane Leavey) is requesting the use of one coned lane (RhodyCo <br />staff will take responsibility for the coning) on the foUowing sb'eets, Sunday Aug. 7,; <br /> . - -' -...--.- . -,.- -. - <br /> Brewster (b / t Sequioa HS and Alameda de 1as Pulgas), on <br /> Lexington (bit Sequia HS and Jefferson), on <br /> Jefferson (bit Lexington adn Farm Hill Blvd.), and <br /> Farm Hill Blvd. (bIt Jefferson and Canada Rd.) <br />We will cone and use only the bike lane where there is one, a traffic lane where <br />there is not. We are planning an 8:00 AM Start for the ride, from Sequîoa HS, west <br />onto Brewster (map enclosed). Coning of the course will begin at 5:00 AM. We will <br />stagger the start for the expected 800 riders, to relieve congestion on the ride course. <br />All riders should be off the ride course and back at the Finish no later than 11:00AM. <br />Post-ride activities will continue until Noon at Sequioa HS. We will have at least 5 <br />emergency medical teduúcians on hand, a SAG vehicle , and trained volunteers <br />stationed along the course to assist riders and report any problems to race officials. <br />There will be 3-4 water / aid stations along the course (in Belmont, Millbrae, and <br />along Skyline Blvd. and Cañada Rd.) As this is a recreational ride, we do not require <br />any "right-af-way." The riders will obey all rules of the road. We will obtain all <br />necessary insurance, naming the "City of Redwood City, et al." as additionally <br />insured <br />The Tcu-:, de-Pe:nit:stÛa i:;-inten-ded tob~ð: ma;Ol"-fundrais~r fur "Outdoors in Û1ë <br />Classroom," an environmental education program. Outdoors in the Classroom is <br />presently in 60 schools in San Mateo County, including Sequioa High School. The <br />San Francisco Chronicle develops, implements, and funds the entire Outdoors <br />cirriculu.m. The value of this program to ea.ch individual school is $5,000¡ a <br />$300,000 value to the schools in San Mateo County. All of the Tour de Peninsula's <br />event proceeds are earmarked for further developing and sustaining San Mateo <br />County's Outdoors in the Classroom. <br />I am enclosing a map of the course we would like to use.
