Donald Shurtleff June 1, 1994
Redwood City Police Dept.
Fax 415·780-7149
RE; TOUR DE PENINSULA · Stmday, August 7,1994
Dear Sgt. Shurtleff,
Thanks for your call the other day. I appreciate your help. I'm enclosing a more
detailed map of the Redwood City streets we would like to ride on for the Tour de
Peninsula, and what kind of corûng and/ or sign posting ("No Parking") we are
reque$ting permission to do.
I've driven Edgewood Rd. from Alameda out to Canada Rd. and have decided that it
would be a much easier, scenic, and safe way to end the ride, rather than using Farm
Hill, Jefferson, and Lexington. It does mean, however, that we'll need the curb lane
on Brewster and Alameda on both sides of the street, for the outgoing and incoming
riders. I hope this will be okay.
There is about 1 block or so on Alameda that's posted "No Parking Anytime" in the
bike lane, so we'd like permission for the rest of Alameda, and all along Brewster,
on both sides, posted "no parking" for the monùng of the ride. Also, the 2 blocks or
so of Brewster west of Sequoia High School, where the road is 4 lanes wide, would it
be possible to for us to use 1 lane of each direction? The road narrows after 2 blocks
to one lane anyway, and it would give us a little more room where the riders need it
most, at the Start of the ride.
I'm sorry for the changes, but for a fÌIst year event, we always have a few initial
kinks to work out as the plarming process progesses. Thanks for all of your help and
support. I'll give you a call tommorrow.
.-
Best Regards,
~~
Julie Kernan
3929 CALIFORNIA STREET · SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94118 · 415-668·2243 · FAX: 668-0543
rn
