JAH:dft , 14/94 (015/36)
Summary") have been prepared and, pursuant to published notice,
have been made available along with copies of the DDA for public
inspection and copying, and a public hearing has been held
thereon; and
WHEREAS, this Council has reviewed and considered the DDA,
the Report and Summary and the testimony received during said
public hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL DOES HEREBY FIND AND
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. This Council finds that the Agency's acquisition of the
Project Site and razing of the former Whipple Lodge, the sale of
the Project Site to the Developer and the construction of
affordable housing thereon by the Developer, will assist in the
elimination of blight from the Project Area. This finding is
based on the following facts and circumstances:
a. The removal of the Whipple Lodge structure from the
Project Site already has had the effect of helping to
erase from the memories of the residents in the
neighborhood, of the blighting conditions that had
existed on the site prior to its being declared a
public nuisance by the Superior Court of the County of
San Mateo, pursuant to a Red Light Abatement Action;
b. Mezes Park, located directly across from the Project
Site and for years the scene of trafficking by drug
dealers and prostitutes, already has been restored to
recreational use by children and families.
12118
2
¡-'--'-'--""
