Bidder Bid Amount
1 G. Bortolotto & Co., Inc. $311,111.11
2 Interstate Grading & Paving, Inc. $354,923.50
3 Sposeto Engineering, Inc. $370,440.00
Engineer’s Estimate $325,000.00

The low bid was determined based on the total base bid. The total base bid of
$311,111.11 from G. Bortolotto & Co., Inc. is approximately 4% lower than the
engineer’s estimate of $325,000 for the cost of construction. Based upon the bids
received, staff believes that the low bid of $311,111.11 is reasonable and responsive,
and recommends awarding the contract to G. Bortolotto & Co., Inc.

If approved, construction of the Marine Parkway Spot Repair Project is anticipated to
begin this summer. Notification of the proposed work will be distributed to surrounding
residents and business owners in advance of the start of work. Large message boards
will be placed on site in advance of the start of the work to notify motorists.

ALTERNATIVES
The City Council may choose not to award the construction contract and direct staff to
redesign and/or rebid this project.

FISCAL IMPACT
The funding for this project is contained within the proposed Fiscal Year 2017-18
Capital Improvement Program budget. This budget is scheduled for City Council review
and approval on June 26, 2017. If approved, funds for the Marine Parkway Spot Repair
Project will be available July 1, 2017, and will be appropriated in the Gas Tax
Construction Fund. If the budget for this project is not approved as proposed, staff will
not move forward with the project as proposed, and may come back to the Council with
an alternative project or funding source.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
As the lead agency for CEQA compliance, the City of Redwood City has determined
that the project meets the CEQA exemption criteria as set forth in Section 15301
(Existing Facilities). Furthermore, this project has been designed in compliance with the
City’s Engineering Standards.

PETER DELGADO
ASSOCIATE CIVIL ENGINEER

6.1.G. - Page 2
