Redwood City Community Theatre promotes auditions and <br />production participation to teens and to the adult and senior community through contacts in other <br />community theaters and locations. Funds requested are to provide funding for the musical theater <br />production of “Sister Act” drawing a cast from Redwood City and surrounding communities. <br />Funding Requested: $3,000 Funding Recommended: $1,400. <br /> <br /> <br />Redwood City Downtown Business Group. This annual downtown event was originally <br />developed by the Civic Cultural Commission many years ago, and is now sponsored by the <br />Downtown Business Group. It features a children’s parade, street fair, entertainment, snow lot, <br />photos with Santa, pony rides, Children’s movies, and Tree Lighting and is always held on the first <br />Saturday in December. <br />Funding Requested: $4,000 Funding Recommended: $1,000. <br /> <br /> <br />Redwood City Education Foundation. Redwood City Education Foundation’s mission is to assist <br />the Redwood City School District in preserving the music program in all schools in the District. This <br />funding request is to provide music education to 5,000 students in grades 1-5 during School Year <br />2017-2018. <br />Funding Requested: $10,000 Funding Recommended: $10,000. <br /> <br /> <br />Redwood City International. Redwood City International is a group which serves as the Sister <br />City Committee for Redwood City. They also sponsor Fiestas de Patrias to honor the ethnic <br />heritage of our Latin American residents. This grant will help fund the costs for their September <br />2017 event at the Courthouse Square. <br />Funding Requested: $1,500 Funding Recommended: $1,000. <br /> <br /> <br />Redwood City Library Foundation. The foundation will host the third annual community festival <br />STEAM Fest 3.0 in April 2018 on the Courthouse Square. The family-oriented event, named “STEAM <br />Fest 3.0,: features over 40 exhibitor booths, with hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, <br />Engineering, Art and Math) activities for children, robots, a stage for speakers, food booths, games <br />and prizes for children, arts and crafts, and performances by local music groups. There is no <br />admission charge for the families. <br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $1,500. <br /> <br /> <br />Redwood City Police Activities League. Redwood City Police Activities League’s mission is to <br />provide positive programs for at-risk youth in the community. Their annual Blues Festival is a <br />fundraising event to fund the cost of these programs. The grant request is to help with operating <br />costs for their July 2017 event. To further engage the community, two assemblies featuring festival <br />musicians will take place at the PAL community center in the Friendly Acres neighborhood. <br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $2,000. <br /> <br /> <br />Redwood City Parks & Arts Foundation. The Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation exists to <br />advocate, advance, and develop support for parks, recreational programming, community services, <br />cultural activities, and the arts in Redwood City. The grant request is for three upcoming <br />events/programs; the third annual Chalk Full of Fun on the 4th of July, Project CATA, and the <br />Family Camp-out part of the Sesquicentennial Celebration. <br />Funding Requested: $8,500 Funding Recommended: $3,000. <br />6.1.C. - Page 5
