Redwood Symphony is well-known as a creative community orchestra that <br />delivers spirited, high-quality performances of ambitious orchestral music in an innovative, and <br />entertaining format. Funds requested are to provide funding for their annual family concert where <br />families with you children are especially encouraged to attend, in costume, as the date falls just <br />before Halloween as well as their free outdoor family concert on the courthouse square. <br />Funding Requested: $2,500 Funding Recommended: $2,000. <br /> <br /> <br />San Mateo County Historical Association. The San Mateo County Historical Association requests <br />that the Redwood City Cultural Commission grant funding for additional expenses for the growing <br />attendance of the Dia de lost Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) celebration, which will take place on <br />November 5th, 2017. The one-time expenses needing funding include additional signage and <br />stanchions in and around the museum to better direct the heavy traffic flow of people. <br />Funding Requested: $4,312 Funding Recommended: $1,200. <br /> <br /> <br />Sequoia Art Group. Sequoia Art Group is a large group of local artists who are interested in art <br />education and promotion in the community. They also hold an annual Spring Art Show and have <br />requested funding for their 54th annual art show to be held in October 2017. The art show is open <br />to adult entries and student entries (grades 6-12) and prizes are awarded to the winners. This <br />grant will help cover operating costs for their 2015 show. <br />Funding Requested: $1,400 Funding Recommended: $1,200. <br /> <br /> <br />The Northern California Bluegrass Society. This group is planning to hold their multi-day <br />Bluegrass Festival in downtown in January 2018. It will feature music performances and a film <br />festival featuring bluegrass music documentaries. This grant request is to help with production <br />costs for the festival. <br />Funding Requested: $2,000 Funding Recommended: $1,900. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />6.1.C. - Page 6
