Item No. 2 (continued) <br />Mayor Greenalch declared the public hearing open at 8:11 p.m. <br />Michael Gibson, representing <br />current zoning with detailed <br />on Redwood Peninsula outside <br />and 87,000 additional square <br />church site; and commitment <br />school site. <br />Redwood Shores, Inc. described Area G and <br />slides and history; described commercial plans <br />of Area G which would include a Safeway, Longs <br />feet for commercial development; plans for <br />to work with State of California to reserve <br />M /S: Stangel /Buchan to close the public hearing. <br />Carried by unanimous voice vote and public hearing closed at 8:29 p.m. <br />In response to suggestions by Councilman Murray to rezone .98 acres R -3 as <br />commercial and bisect 14.92 acres R -2 to keep one half designated TP for a <br />church, Planning Director Patterson explained these actions would not be in <br />compliance with the General Plan, it would be better to create a new <br />designation for church property, and described area parking problems. <br />Councilman Murray iterated need for churches, schools and commercial areas in <br />Redwood Shores to foster "sense of community "; acknowledged difficulties of <br />zoning cultural amenities; and requested that every single acre of Redwood <br />Shores not be zoned to become income- producing, but planned to maximize <br />"sense of community." <br />Discussion ensued regarding the General Plan process and Redwood Shores. <br />Title read.
