CITY MANAGER REPORTS <br />3. City flag pole policy (301 -08) <br />REPORT: City Manager 4/13/89 <br />City Attorney letter to the Council 3/2/89 <br />The following people spoke in favor of flying the POW /MIA flag continuously, <br />52 weeks a year, from a City flag pole: <br />Charles McAleer, 730 Barron Avenue, Redwood City, Past VFW Post President <br />Michael Salome, 60 willow Road, Menlo Park, former POW, State POW /MIA <br />Chairman <br />Robert Page, 1621 Alameda, Redwood City <br />M /S: Murray /Bury to fly the POW /MIA flag from the VFW continously, 52 <br />weeks a year. <br />Discussion ensued on the need to remind the citizens of Redwood City that <br />there are 2,400 men in South East Asia and 8,200 men in Korea who are still <br />listed as prisoners of war or missing in action and where would be the best <br />place to fly this flag of remembrance. <br />Councilman Bury asked if flying it at the police station might not be a <br />better place than City Hall and all agreed. <br />Councilman Murray, with approval of his second, amended motion to read " to <br />fly the POW /MIA flag continuously, 52 weeks a year, from the Police Station <br />flag pole." <br />Amended motion carried by unanimous voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 89 -50 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />4.
