ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br />a. Lorraine Sorich, 546 Compass, Redwood City, presented a petition to the <br />Council from 85 neighbors asking for street lighting on Redwood Shores Parkway <br />and Bridge Parkway to deter burglars from continuing in their neighborhood. <br />Matter referred to staff for consideration of problem within budget restraints <br />and recommendations to be made to Council. <br />MEMO 5/9 <br />----------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />a. Councilmember Claire reported on meeting between Personnel Committee, <br />including Councilmembers Buchan and Bury, and the Benefits Committee and <br />advised they would be able to provide information at Executive Session on <br />May 15th. <br />b. Councilwoman Buchan reported on the success of the Western Regional <br />Tournament of the National Hockey Association, Hockey America, hosted by <br />the City of Redwood City, and announced Redwood City would very likely be <br />hosting it again next year. <br />C. Councilman Murray congratulated Evelyn Powell on becoming the 1st women to be <br />elected Commander of the James R. Wilson Post of the Veterans of Foreign <br />Wars, and Ruth Montgomery on being re- elected President of the Ladies <br />Auxiliary <br />d. Mayor Greenalch invited everyone to join the City Council and staff and <br />attend the Chamber of Commerce Trade Show to take place May 10, 1989, 5 p.m. - <br />to 8 p.m at the Hotel Sofi tel , 223 Redwood Shores, Redwood City. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />2.
