6. City Center Action Committee Report <br />Report: City Center Action Committee, June 8, 1989 <br />Chairman of the City Center Action Committee Councilman William J. Stangel <br />presented the report. <br />Community Development Director Ben Pawloski presented the report on the <br />design of a parking structure on the M -7 site and displayed several views and <br />ideas for the structure. <br />In answer to Council questions, Planning Director Joel Patterson advised that <br />the 1985 Revitalization Plan was amended in 1987 to allow for a parking <br />structure on the M -7 site, the north end of the parking lot in the middle of <br />the block bordered by Middlefield, Jefferson, Broadway and Main. In response <br />to further questions Director Patterson advised that a parking structure next <br />to new library would only serve city staff and not benefit downtown area, <br />that this site would be the least disruptive for everyone and it would be <br />designed to conform with new construction in the area. <br />Nita Spangler, 970 Edgewood, Redwood City, asked Council if this structure <br />would be built over the old water way, and if so, would it be wise to build <br />it there. <br />Staff advised soils investigations would be performed at the sight before any <br />decisions would be made. <br />6a. M /S: Stangel /Murray to accept City Center Action Committee <br />recommendations. <br />Carried by unanimous voice vote. <br />6b. M /S: LaBerge /Stangel to refer the Urban Design Guidelines to the <br />Planning Commission for review and recommendation. <br />Carried by unanimous voice vote. <br />6c. M /S: LaBerge /Stangel to hold a series of information meetings with <br />property owners and businesses in the City Center Area on the <br />Committee recommendations. <br />Carried by unanimous voice vote. <br />6d.
