. .... ,._u - - . ,.--... . . - -.
ft> Fenr" Peers Aøodates
Exhibit A
ELECTRONIC ARTS MASTER PLAN TRAFFIC IMPACT STUDY
SCOPE OF WO:RK
Approach
Our approach to this study is to update previous !.tudies prepared for dcvelo~ment on
Redwood Shores including the 1975 ElR, the Crain Study, and the Lido Neighbor ood EIR
which evaluated intersections on Marine Parkway and Redwood Shores Parkway as well as
the two interchanges on Highway 10 1. Because of our recent work we can prepare this study
cost-effectively using most of the information we already have. The following is our proposed
scope of work.
Scope of \V ork
The traffic study described below will be prepared as ¡Ill addendum to the 1975 EIR to update
existing conditions and cumulative project traffic generation. Tbe study will not contain
specific EJR elements including pedestrian and bicycle: circulation, evaluation of alternatives,
and a mitigation moIÚtoring program.
T ",sk 1. Collect Data
Data collection will include morning and afternoon peak period traffic counts at six key
intersections, and field reconnaissance to observe traffil; conditions and ~Cific problems. We
will obtain the most recent Caltrans freeway ramp counts (March 199 ) for the Marine and
Redwood Shores Parkway interchanges with Highway 101 and adjust them to reflect
conditions at the time of the intersection traffic counts. The five intersections are:
-Marine PkwylBridge Pkwy -Twin Dolphin Pkwy/Sboreline Drive
-Marine pkwyrrwin Dolphin Pkwy -Redwood Shores PkwylBrid~ Pkwy
·Redwood Shores Pkwyrrwin Dolphin Pkwy -Marine Pkwy/Orac1e Pkway est
In addition to traffic counts, we will contact the City 8l'I d Redwood Shores Properties to update
the list of projects on the Redwood Shores PeninSl:la and other nearby areas (WestpOrt,
Centrum and Island Parle). We anticipate that sevl~ral changes have occurred since our
previous study of tlUs area (February 1992) and will ne:d to update the project list to detennine
cumulative traffic generation. Our previous study included 885,000 square feet of oftlce in the
Electronic Arts site, but there may be other changes such as rezoning and projects which have
changed size since our preparation of the Lido Neighborhood EIR. This taSk includes a review
oftlle 1975 EIR and the 1987 Cr.ain Study.
Task: 2. S valuate ExistinB Conditions
We will perform morning and afternoon peak hour analyses of the study intersections and
interchange ramps (does not include mainline ramp junctions) to establish existing conditions
using a service level methodology specified by the Cit)'.
Electronic Arts Master Plan Traffic Impact Study
Scope of Work (8/29/95) Page 1
-
