<br />1. PURPOSE. The Parties are entering into this Agreement for the sole <br />purpose of providing assistance to and allowing the establishment of a <br />Redwood City 2000 Coordinating Committee (the "Coordinating Committee"). <br />The Coordinating Committee exists for three major purposes: <br /> A. To provide a forum wherein representatives of public <br /> entities can work together and with members of the private sector, <br /> business and the community at large to improve the quality of life <br /> in Redwood City <br /> B. To provide oversight to the work of four ongoing coalitions <br /> including: the South County Coalition for Substance Abuse <br /> Prevention; the Healthy Start Program at Taft School; the Violence <br /> Prevention Program and the Community Participation Program in <br /> the High School District. <br /> C. Secure the participation of members of the community in the <br /> Redwood City 2000 Coordinating Committee Community Strategic <br /> Planning effort. <br />2. TERM. This agreement shall be binding on the Parties upon <br />execution of this Agreement by all Parties. This agreement shall be effective <br />July 1, 1996 and shall continue in effect through June 30, 1997. <br />3. TERMINATION. Any party may withdraw from this Agreement by <br />giving the other Parties sixty (60) days written notice. The rights and obligations <br />of the terminating party terminate sixty (60) days after notice is given. <br /> 2 <br /> ..."~,.. -. <br />
