Mayor Greenalch announced the Summer Jobs for Youth Program sponsored by the <br />San Mateo County Private Industry Council and the Board of Supervisors has <br />chosen Redwood City as the City of the Year and Vice Mayor LaBerge will <br />represent Redwood City at the appreciation reception at the Villa Hotel on <br />October 11, 1989. <br />le. Mayor Greenalch announced that the Redwood City Reds men's softball team is <br />the national champion in the 50 -55 years age group. Out of the original 2,000 <br />teams entered in the competition and the 68 teams competing in the finals in <br />Charleston, North Carolina, the Redwood City Reds defeated their old foe from <br />Pinole, California to become the national champs. Mayor Greenalch announced <br />a recognition ceremony will be held in the near future. <br />MEMO 10/3/89 <br />lf. Vice Mayor LaBerge requested everyone to circle Friday, December 1st on <br />their calendars as that is the night of the Redwood City Gala at the Fox <br />Theatre where the Palo Alto Players will be performing "Annie" from December <br />1st through December 10th.
